Our Website

While this website refers to Catholic schools and independent schools, due to their size, the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) schools and policies are the subject of most of our information.

Parents of children with disabilities and students with disabilities themselves who have had school experiences, both good and bad, are encouraged to contact us and contribute to the information on this site. Prior to us putting your information on the website, we will need to satisfy ourselves as to the veracity of that information. We welcome all contact.

Schools who are using best-practice teaching pedagogy/interventions are encouraged to contact us and provide that information.

The information on this site relies upon that received from individuals, public documents, court cases and educational authorities’ policies and procedures. Each year, numerous human rights complaints are made against Victorian schools. A comparison with the number of complaints lodged and those that proceed to court reflects that most of these complaints settle out of court, however a number of court cases involving children with disabilities have provided valuable insight and information about individual school and DET practices. Any mention of an individual person has either already been in the public domain, or has the express permission of the individual owning the information, or in the case of a child, their carer/parent/guardian. If information is posted and the identity of that person is protected and therefore not published, we have identified that person ourselves prior to posting that information.

If you are a school mentioned on this website and believe the information you see is factually incorrect, please contact us. Similarly, if you are a school mentioned on this website and the information we have posted was correct, but has been superseded by some formal policy, personnel or procedural change, please contact us.

If there are areas of information which you believe are not covered by this website and should be, we welcome your input.
